Did you know that a cut can also cause musculoskeletal related injuries? This can occur at home as we are staying in more. The Straits Times reported this in June last year but we didn't think much about it... Until it happened to one of us! 🤕
She suffered an accident in the kitchen while using a kitchen knife. This is by no means medical advice, but we hope this short clip will help you if it happens to any of you or your close ones.
☑️ Call for help from your family members
☑️ Apply pressure on the wound with a clean cloth or tissue
☑️ Sit down
☑️ Take deep breaths, try to stay calm
☑️ Arrange for transport to your nearest 24h clinic & surgery or the A&E (please call 995 if you are unable to stop the bleed or there is loss of consciousness)
In this case, the left thumb was the injured one. It was swollen and getting stiff. Pain-free range of motion exercises was done to manage this. Ice pack was also used to ease the swelling and pain on both the thumb and tetanus jab area. 🧊
While recovering from the wound, you may experience some aches and pains in the opposite limb as you try to rest your injured limb. You may use simple stretches and self massage to manage it. 💆
Remember to always check in with your GP when in doubt. Stay safe!
